About This Station

The station is powered by a RainWise MKIII weather station located at the KAJO/KLDR studios in south Grants Pass. The data is collected every 2 seconds and the site is updated every 15 minutes, with near real time updates also available at about ten second intervals. This site and its data is collected using Weather Display Software. The station is comprised of an anemometer, a rain gauge and a thermo-hydro sensor. We also have a weather cam on Fielder Mountain (3,730 feet AMSL) looking west over Grants Pass.

This station and web site is owned and operated by WeatherForYou.com LLC, a Grants Pass, Oregon, based provider of web site weather information for individuals, corporations, government agencies and other organizations around the world. We're also co-owner of PWSweather.com. In 1998 WeatherForYou.com first proposed the use of personal weather stations to supplement information from National Weather Service stations. In 2000 they were one of the first to include near real time data from personal weather stations with local forecasts.

About Grants Pass, Oregon

Grants Pass is on the banks of Oregon's legendary Rogue River, about an hour north of the California Oregon border and less than four hours south of Portland. It is the Josephine County seat and serves a population of over 78,600. Grants Pass is among the greatest places in the American West for whitewater thrills, forest trails, fly fishing, friendly faces, and a dynamic local arts and entertainment scene.

Grants Pass served as a stagecoach stop in the 1860's and became a rail head with the completion of the Oregon-California Railroad (now Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad) in 1884. The name was selected to honor General U.S. Grant's success at Vicksburg and the post office was established in 1865. Until after the turn of the century our name still retained the original spelling of Grant's Pass, using an apostrophe.
